Bridge: Crashes when adding Keywords or Ratings

Since buying CS6 around Christmas I can't rate or keyword any photos in Bridge without crashing. My computer never crashes. It never crashes running Photoshop and RAW. Adobe has the worst support I have ever experienced. The automated phone system says my wait is 8 minutes but 40 minutes later I am still waiting. This has happened twice. Welcome to customer service in the 21st century. I will likely never buy another Adobe product again.

I have updated video drivers ran Bridge in 32 bit. I bought Photoshop partly for the DAM features in Bridge.

Which OS version?

Have you installed all the updates for Bridge CS6?

OK...I checked for new updates to my video driver...then I uninstalled Photoshop and reinstalled it. It work for 20 to 30 photos adding keywords and tags. I thought I was home free....stupid me.

Then I updated Photoshop and all the other components. It worked for ten more photos. Now it crashes every time I try to rate or tag one photo.

I have spent over 20 hours on this problem.

Hi Paul,

Does your computer ask you if you want to submit a crash log after the crashes? If so, did you send them? Please send them via that system if you are prompted to do so.

Second, is there any kind of consistent pattern about how and when this happens or does not happen? Is it only happening with one type of file? Is it happening while Bridge is possibly doing other metadata reading or writing work, like when rating immediately after editing the image (or its metadata) in Camera Raw or with another application? None of those things should crash Bridge, of course, but it might help us narrow down the problem if we know more about what's going on.

Thanks,
David

My wife is having exactly the same problem. I have not yet checked to see which video driver she is using, but the OS is Win7 64-bit and Bridge is 64-bit. For several days now she has been working in a folder with approximately 200 .jpg files of about 5 MB each. She wanted to tag 37 of them to work on and has been very frustrated that she can't. Crash isn't the right word, however, because Bridge simply freezes with no error messages at all. No way to troubleshoot it! She finally gave up and created a new folder for the 37 pictures and abandoned the system that she has used for years of tagging them in place.

This problem just started after I installed Microsoft's latest batch of updates dated 9/10/2013. At the same time I also uninstalled Comcast's Constant Guard including Norton Internet Security 360 and installed a new stand-alone copy of Norton Internet Security 360 which is a newer version. There were 17 updates in the Microsoft package plus the Comcast/Norton change. I suppose I could do a system restore and start putting them back in one-by-one, but that's probably a week's work since I'm seldom able to pry the computer out of her hands for more than about two hours on any given day.

She had been using Bridge for several years through a number of versions and had never had a problem until about two weeks ago.

Any help would be much appreciated,
Bill
