Bounding Box problem in Photoshop CS6

I am having a problem with the bounding box not appearing when I load an image into my document. I have to press Ctrl T to get it to show up, whereas previously it appeared automatically. I'm running Windows 7 on a Sony Vaio laptop, and have Photoshop CS6. This is the first time this problem has occurred.I do not have an Nvidia graphics card on this machine.

There is a preference under view that you can click to have the bounding box appear or not.

I'm using CC 2015 on a Mac, but your interface should be similar...  With the move tool selected (keyboard shortcut "V"), check "Show Transform Controls" in the context menu.
