Lightroom Classic 7.2: Borderless Printing (Retain Size) handled incorrectly

Printing borderless (Retain Size) on an Epson 3880 is handled differently between Lightroom Classic 7.2 and Photoshop CC 2018, with MacOS 10.13.12. See attached screenshots.

Screenshot 1 - I tried a custom paper profile for 17"x22" and no margins. With these settings the image gets cropped and a white border, roughly 1/6" appear on all sides of the print. According to Epson customer service this is normal, and I should be using borderless (Retain Size).

Screenshot 2 - If I use Borderless (Retain Size) in Lightroom, the image get's placed in the upper left corner. Then the printer driver expands the paper size, but prints the image the original size. The problem is that expansion occurs only to the right and the bottom. The resulting print is exactly 17"x22"  but offset on the paper. Resulting in a crop on the left and top side, and a white border on right and bottom side.

Screenshot 3 - If I use Borderless (Retain Size) in Photoshop, the image gets centered in the expanded paper, and it prints correctly. Exactly 17"x22", centered on my paper (17"x22").

If memory serves, Fredrik, the workaround for this issue is to create a custom page size in the Epson dialog for a 17X22 inch page and not to use the prefab page size available in the pulldown.

Hi Rikk,
Could you please elaborate.... To me it seems like I tried your workaround in Screenshot 1. In Lightrooms Page Setup dialog, I created a custom paper size 17"x22" with 0" margins. There is no option for Borderless (Retain Size) under custom paper settings. The printer driver still leaves a white border (1/6") on all sides.

Can you expand the panels from example 2 so that I can see your other layout options chosen in the Lightroom Print module's righthand panes?

Hi Rikk,
Here are the requested screenshots.
It seems to me, when using "Borderless Retain Size" that the correct behavior for Lightroom would be to keep the size of layout grid at 17"x22" and not expand it to 17.39"x22.39" inches. With the expanded Layout grid it becomes very difficult to center the layout elements on the actually printed 17"x22" paper. Another option would be to have the ability to set margins with Custom Packages, and through them reduce the effective layout area back to 17"x22".
The easiest workaround I found was to set the paper size to 17x22 in Lightroom then save my completed layout as a JPEG, open it in Photoshop and printing it with "Borderless Retain Size" where Photoshop centered the image on the expanded paper (screenshot 3 above).
