When editing a large job it would be super helpful to be able to bookmark where i'm up to so that I don't need to search through everything to find it. I don't want to use any of the rating tools as they are already part of my workflow

You can use a Smart Catalog to keep track of your recent edits.

Smart Collection, I meant to say. I think one of the built in is called Recently Modified or something similar.

I have a group of keywords I use to help me keep track of the status of my images. They are grouped under a top level hierarchy of “status”. Keywords such as edited, to edit, uploaded, etc., enable me to instantly find where I left off, and what I have yet to do.

Before quitting an editing session, I select all the edited images and check the “edited” box. Next time I start editing, it takes only a few seconds for a simple keyword search of the project folder to tell me where I need to start.
