Lightroom: Book module a real mess

I have just finished making a book in the new Lightroom 4 book module. I have made ten books in blurb mostly using my own templates
Lightroom 4 new modulehas been a very unhappy experience. In particular many features are unstable-
Images dragged into a page over another image have disappeared again after a few minutes
After setting padding on say one dimension and going back to it later to adjust it it jumps to setting all four dimensions the same as soon as i touch a single dimension again
several images suddenly became blurred and i had to close down and restart the programme. This has happened several times
There does not appear to be a way of printing page numbers
The spine text does not centre left /right
There is no ruler or grid to overlay on a page spread to align left/right page images so its guesswork and a ruler held to the screen.
Similarly without a rule it is very difficult to create consistent gapes on a page between images when mixing a standard and altered template
There is no way of seeing the actual size of a standard template box (or where it sits on the page so creating a custom page to align with it or adjusting a standard page layout with padding is impossible to do accurately
No account is taken of the gutter and the curve of the paper in setting out templates. i have always used separate left and right templates in the past
The method of creating a custom template is very cumbersome- much easier in blurb
