Blue box instead of preview - Win10 and LightRoom CC

This is different from the blue box with the white X; I had that on my laptop and un-checking the GPU worked perfectly.

I just upgraded my desktop to Win10; my AMD Win10 drivers are the most recently available for my HD7900; my LRCC is up to date.

My library screen shows blue/turquoise boxes where the images should be; the image count is correct; all my metadata/keywords shows correctly; I can see the images in Windows Explorer.

Un-checking the GPU does not solve the issue as it did with the blue box and X. I have restarted my machine several times, to no avail.

My guess is that your monitor profile, installed or reset by Windows 10, is incompatible with LR.

The way to see if this is the case is to reset your profile to sRGB instead of whatever it is set to, now.

Here is a help page from the LR Queen, that doesn't include how to do it for Win 10, yet, but see if you can figure it out, anyway.


You might also try to update your video driver to 15.7.1 which I've seen work for some people on Windows 10. It should be available on the AMD site using the automatic driver detector:

Interestingly, your driver string is 15.200.1062.1004, but if I click on the HD 7000 Series Windows 10 64-bit driver listed at the righthand side of the above AMD page, I only see version 15.20.1062.1002‚Äč, which is slightly different:

Thanks for such a fast response, Steve, I noticed that things went south when the CalMAN client (I'm a photographer and that's my colour calibration software) kicked in so I uninstalled it and the ICC file it generated, the software it connects to and the AMD driver and re-installed all from scratch. Problem re-occurred so I disabled the CalMAN client and re-calibrated my machine with X-Rite software; everything is as it should be. CalMAN is working fine on my HP Win10 laptop; odd that it won't work on the desktop.

Regarding the AMD Catalyst software, I d/l'd the current Win10 driver for my card manually, not using the auto-select feature on the website. As well, I opted not to install the Evolved app.

Double-check that you've got the same exact options set on the desktop as on the laptop. E.g. there have been reports in the past that LR chokes on some ICC version 4 profiles, so in case of problems try version 2. I haven't seen anything authoritative about that, though.

ICC V2-Matrix is the most likely to be accepted. ICC V4-LUT is the least likely to work, so see if you can get CalMAN to make a ICC V2/Matrix profile for your desktop.

That said, I have a ICC V4-LUT Profile created by X-Rite software that seems to work ok on my desktop, which has an nVidia card, so maybe there is a variation between cards and manufacturers that also adds to what sorts of profiles work or not.
