Lightroom: Blend Modes for OVERLAY FEATURE

THIS IS NOT ABOUT ADDING BLEND MODES IN LIGHTROOM (though I've seen the posts and it's an awesome idea.) This is about adding additional blend modes to the OVERLAY feature. I use the overlay feature probably 20 times a day. My client demands that I make things register to a photo taken months ago.

The opacity slider is sometimes helpful. The matte slider, I have no idea what it does. What I end up doing is opening the image I need to register to, cut it out so it is on its own layer on a transparent background and then save as a PNG which I thin use as my overlay. That works way better. But, Adobe; you could do more.

What if I had the photo I needed to register to already loaded in Lightroom; wouldn't it be great if I could just select that image as an overly (right from the film strip)? Then I would have an additional option for loading overlays. Sometimes, I need a photo that is already in Lightroom. Lightroom overlays only seem to like PNGs.

Next, give me some blend modes to apply so I can put it over the image however seems fit given the circumstances. Darken only could be helpful when registering something that is on a white background. Lighten only might help in a dark room, etc.

While you're at it; it would be great if I could see the grid lines that are in my actual camera as an overlay as well.

One more: Custom overlays that I could save and have them just load instead of having to search a hard drive for the file.
