We have seen similar issues when users have the Google NIK plugins installed. If you have them installed, you may want to disable or temporarily uninstall them to confirm whether that is the cause of this issue. If you don't have Nik plugins, try pressing K key twice or press the F twice to switch camera raw out/into full screen mode - does that force the UI to draw?

The other thing to try is go to Preferences > Performance... in Photoshop and uncheck Use Graphics Processor, restart Photoshop and try again to see if it goes away.

Hi unfortunately i don't have the nik collection installed anymore however i used to. but this problem surfaced way after i uninstalled the Nik collection so i don't think that's the problem as well.

pressing the K/F keys does not solve the issue either, neither does unchecking use graphics processor. the screen still stays black as in the photo above.

if its of any help, I'm using a MacBook Pro 13" Retina Display Early 2015 running macOS Mojave version 10.14.5 Beta (18F131a), 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5, 8 GB 1867 MHz DDR3, Intel Iris Graphics 6100 1536 MB and 128 GB Flash Storage with 29GB free
