Install the Photoshop CC 2015.1.1 update, and the Camera Raw 9.3.1 update.

And I'm sorry it took us a while to figure out the OS bugs and how to work around those OS bugs.

I did all this in the summer under the guidance of telephone support. Within days the issue returned

I thought I had installed these two?

Again, install the Camera Raw updates - you are several versions behind.
We didn't get all the workarounds for the OS bugs in place until ACR 9.3.1.

How about giving clearer instructions? If ACR is part of PS CC why doesnt it upgrade at the same time? Where is it in the Creative Cloud list of Apps?

Because normally it doesn't need more instructions.

Camera Raw is updated separately, but shows up in the Creative Cloud app as part of Photoshop updates. If you aren't seeing it update, then try downloading the update directly. https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/m...

Why is it updated separately? How about a notification or two? Not on my list of Apps. Time to make things clearer for customers. We are photographers not computer geeks

Surely Adobe must know that Mac is very commonly used in photography yet you have sat on this issue since the launch of CC

So that Camera Raw can update when Photoshop is not updating (they update more often). Again, it doesn't show up as an app of it's own, but as part of each app's updates. So something has hosed the ACR updates on your system, and you'll need to download the update directly.

Nobody has sat on an issue - we've been working to figure out the OS bugs that caused the problem and how to work around them. It just isn't an obvious or simple problem, nor are the workarounds all that simple. Yes, it would be nice if the problems were fixed in the MacOS code, but that hasn't happened.

so how come I am at least two versions of ACR behind and up to date with PS? I didn't tell it not to download ACR? seems Adobe have further issues with their downloads

No idea what you mean by "hosed" on my ACR updates???

Just picture me reviewing a group students work using PS projected to the whole class and this happens. Its very awkward and embarrassing!!

I have no idea, but it sounds like there has been a problem with the ACR updater on your system (locked or missing files or something) in the past.

Again, you can download the update directly, and that should reset the installer information (telling it that you have the latest, in the right place).

how do we know there has been an upgrade of ACR in the future?

Again, by installing the latest update, it should reset the installer information and notify you of updates in the future (because now you're on the current version).

and if it doesn't ? - as it obviously hasn't at least twice in the last 6 months?

I am surprised Adobe either prematurely released PS CC and/or did not fully test on MacOS

This has been a fundamental software issue of which I am not convinced is cured as previous "help" from Adobe was - reset PS, uninstall and reinstall PC CC etc. - kind of "switch it off and then on again" approach

Please, go install the Camera Raw update.

Other users are not having such problems with updates - but sometimes the installer database can get messed up, or out of sync - l like if someone restores from a backup or otherwise change the installed applications and plugins without using Adobe's tools.

Yes, Apple released their OS with this bug, and it took us quite a while to figure out the bug in the OS and how to work around it. Photoshop was fully tested on MacOS, but Apple was unable to fix this bug in the OS, so Adobe had to figure out the bug and find ways to work around it.
