May be basic, but when in a text box in PS CC, when I hit enter to go to the next line, it takes me out of the text box. What am I doing wrong?

Hi Mark,

Did you draw a box to enter text or did you just click?  Do you have a rectangular shape surrounded by a dashed line or do you have text on a single line with a guide line at the bottom?

If you have line text, where you just clicked and there is only a guideline at the bottom of your text to give you an idea where characters will appear, then you're doing nothing wrong and everything is working normally.

If you have a dashed box and the text is appearing outside, then you've almost certainly tweeked your Baseline Shift in your Character Panel.  That is the fourth control down on the left side of the Character Panel.  You can always reset your Character Panel attributes by simply choosing the flyout menu and selecting Reset Character.

Hope that helps,
David

I think I figured it out. I had been hitting the enter button on the number pad, when I would do that, the dashed line I was typing inside of would disappear. However, when I hit the enter button by the alpha keys, it advances to the next line, allowing me to continue to type within the dashed line box. Thank youfor your reply

Yeah, there is a difference between the ENTER key (numeric keypad) and RETURN key (right side above the shift key), even if some sloppy keyboard makers mark both of them as "enter".
