Lightroom CC: Backup entire iPhone camera roll

While I am trying to wrap my head around all the changes and trying to make use of Lightroom CC, I have to admit, I will probably never use Lightroom CC for my "real" photos.

But I was thinking that Lightroom CC could be the repository for my iPhone photos. So I started using it on my iPhone and I do like what I can do with the images to enhance them before posting to Instagram or other social media platforms.

I opened Lightroom CC on my phone and selected all images from my camera roll, thinking this will sync them to the could. And then I would grab them to Lightoom Classic CC through the cloud to have a hard copy of everything.

But I got stuck at importing all images in Lightroom CC on my phone. The only photo it seemed to have imported was one I edited. How would I then go about importing the images in the cloud into Lightroom Classic CC?

So, bottom line, can someone please help me figure out my desired workflow, pint me to some literature about doing this, or tell me that what I am intending to do is not doable?

Thanks!

"But I got stuck at importing all images in Lightroom CC on my phone."

Can you be more specific about what this means? Were you unable to import any images? Did you see images in the import workflow but they could not be added?

Hi Barry, Thank you for getting back to me.

I opened Lightroom CC, I tapped on the small image logo on the bottom, went to the camera roll and chose "select all". Nothing happened.

That said, now suddenly it worked and LR is importing the images.

How do I go about now to sync that folder to LR Classic?

Thanks!

Never mind, I figured it out.

I was somehow hoping that LR CC could be setup to sync my entire camera roll automatically. But there seems to be some manual work included. Like choosing which photos will be imported to LR CC on the phone. But once that's done, apparently those images will automatically sync to LR Classic on the desktop. This is probably good as it will prevent that the space allocated in LR CC will not be used up by unused images or images form other people and unnecessary screenshots and photos from price tags from home depot.

You can turn Auto Import on in LrCC for any future images. Plus, although the have synced to the desktop they will still take up space on the Cloud until deleted.

Thanks Selondon. Found that setting now.

On that note, It doesn't support nor import the videos made with the iPhone, right?

Ok... Soliloquizing again... New videos are imported. Old videos not.

Lightroom CC seems a nice idea but I'll check back when we're at v10...
