My daily backups consist of "Folders" and not "Collections". How can I backup Collections in Lightroom 6 CC?

Your backups should be the entire catalog, which would include collection membership. Can you explain what makes you think the collections aren't being included please?

Hi, Victoria:
I don't doubt that my whole catalog/library is being backed up, but the collections I've constructed don't show up in my backups as I've constructed them in the Library.

Ok, talk us through exactly what you're doing and what's happening. For example, how are you opening the backups, etc.

Thanks for your interest. I'll be traveling for the next 2 weeks and will have only sporadic internet access. Most likely, I'll wait for that dialogue until near the end of June. Thanks again.

You can run it on demand by going to Catalog Settings and selecting "Backup on next exit". But we'll still be here in 2 weeks. Have a good trip!

• To begin, I began using Lightroom shortly after Apple announced a discontinuation of support for Aperture.
• I transferred over 14000 photo files into Lightroom in May.
• Per Scott Kelby’s advice, I then began grouping the photos into Folders and setting up my backups in an external hard drive. I did set up the backups to occur each time I close Lightroom.
• My next project was creating Collections.
• I then inspected my backup drive to see what was there. It was then that I saw the Folders and their content, but not the Collections that I’d created.
• I’m afraid that, if my internal hard drive crashes, I’ll have to recreate all of my Collections. Not a pleasant thought.
Any thoughts from your end?

Yes... sounds like you're fine. The collection membership is stored in the catalog like the star ratings, keywords, virtual copies, etc.

Just make sure you've got all the right files backed up: http://www.lightroomqueen.com/backup-...

If you had to restore, you'd put all the files back in the right places and when you open LR, they should all still be there.

Many thanks for your help, Victoria. I think I can take it from here.
