Nothing new to my knowledge.

I don't know on Android, but on iPadOS and iOS, it's the OS managing background activities. There are workarounds, but none are very clean, like questioning the GPS every now and then. I'm sure devs or champions will give you a more detailed explanation on why it's not implemented yet.

A viable solution, however, would be to FINALLY implement split view and slide over, in order to keep an instance of LR open while being able to work on something else. As Adobe refuses to implement something else as OTA syncing (like USB, Wifi, LAN ...) and forces to sync through it's own servers, they must implement something allowing to continue to use your device during the long and painfull syncing process.

Buuuuut no, you'll get fancy tutorials and how to's (like in the new v5.0.0) but very few real upgrades.

I just pushed 17.000 smart previews to the cloud and now also face a background sync problem. I have two devices set to store them locally for offline access, thats around 30GB of download. I have to manually keep my display on with 2 Android devices at the moment, a real pain. Otherwise nothing happens.

Yes I got LR all the background running permissions on both devices and excluded it from the battery optimization (one is Samsung one is Huawei, so its not something brand specific).

Funny thing is, before the latest LR update I was on a trip, transferring 30 GB of raw files to one of those devices, it uploaded those just to fine to the cloud with the display off.

Is uploading raws and downloading smartpreviews handled differently? Or I could have been something bad with the latest update. Anyway, I'm open for tipps.

Why is this still not fixed? I am syncing 60,000 photos and Adobe expects me to babysit this with a screen on?
Also can we speed up this process with a cable or WIFI? Why do we need to wait for the cloud..those operation can later on just verify the syncs in the background instead of transferring these massive sizes of data from my apartment in the cloud and then back from the cloud to my apartment......super slow workflow.

Because it's not the priority. Check the latest update (yesterday on iOS) was mainly about the tutorials nobody really asked for. Other bugs and requests on this forum remain untreated.
