When using a tool in Photoshop (brush, clone stamp, sponge, dodge would be examples) allow it to only affect (IOW auto-mask) specific colors or tones. So if I was trying to desaturate purple fringing, I could sample the purple (with a variable sensitivity) and then other colors would not be modified.

You already have Replace Color, Magic Wand, and selectors in Hue/Saturation- use some combination of these for the UI.

This would enhance Dodge/Burn by letting the user adjust what Highlights/Midtones/Shadows are, too.
