PHOTOSHOP CC 2015.1 - auto-select feature acting funny

With the latest version of Photoshop 2015.1 the auto-select feature for the move tool is active but shows as turned off(unchecked). I was able to get it to work properly after toggling it a few times and moving stuff in the viewport... but this is only a temporary work around as it resets this behavior when Photoshop is restarted.

Experiencing the same problem. Holding "Command" and trying to select multiple layers in the layers palette doesn't seem to be working. Works sometimes, but then literally deselects when selecting yet another layer.

What gives?
