Photoshop: Auto-select behavior and Artboard moving

Hello, I am a UX designer currently exploring workflow within photoshop in order to prepare for Comet's launch.

I am loving the artboard feature; but I am finding it a HUGE pain that when I have auto select on for my move tool, it interferes with moving my artboard. Essentially, it selects a layer while I try to drag the recently copied artboard off from the one beneath. It makes it so I have to go unclick auto select, and those seconds add up after a while.

When you're in the artboard tool, can the auto select function change to auto select the WHOLE artboard for easy dragging— not just layers. Thanks very much!

Hi Alexandra, we've made some changes that should help you avoid this situation. We now offset the artboards if you've duplicated them so they don't stack on top of one another, and added the ability to lock a given layer, layers, or an artboard so it doesn't re-nest. (These changes will be available in the coming weeks)

One easy way to grab the whole artboard is to click the artboard name and drag. This will move the entire artboard.

Thanks so much for the info, Joel! I will try clicking on the name, and I look forward to seeing the changes.

I have the exact opposite problem. I try to move selected layers selected with the auto-select: layer setting. But then it selects the art board when i alt + drag the layers - copying the whole art board. This is not expected behaviour with "auto-select layer". It's really annoying to say the least :/

Same here. I'm cursing at Photoshop almost every time I try to move something.

I created an issue for this if you want to upvote it.
