Assertion failed error after Windows 10 update

Lightroom Classic (Desktop) had been working correctly. Last night Windows/Microsoft updated my Windows 10 with an upgrade.  This turned my computer on its head. I lost my emails, which I had to re-install, still not working. The biggest thing, lost access to LR Classic and 10,000 photographs. I eventually found them, but now LR will not start, showing 'Assertion failed'. All of my edits, presets etc do not exist anymore. I have read many articles on different forums, indicating locate the 'picture' folder, which I have located under my user name.  I have saved my previous .Lrcat file in dropbox, so I have this.  I have uninstalled and re-installed LR, but still doesn't work.  I am okay at computer skills, but no where near and expert. I am not very happy with the windows update. I P1ssed off person.  Hope somebody can help.

Disregard.  Muddled through it myself. Uninstalled and re install LR several times.  Selected a previous backup (LRCAT) which worked, just had to reload photographs, which had not been captured by the backup. Light room now set to backup every time it exits, not once a week. Still have to go back in and reload presets etc.  Still not happy with Microsoft. :(

James,
I assume your backed up catalog (.lrcat) is working fine.
Is there any other issues you face with Lightroom? What happens when you try to open your previous catalog?

Thanks,
Sunil

Thanks Sunil. When I tried to open the previous catalog, it came up with the Assertion Failed error. Thats why I used a previous backed up Lrcat.  I have now set LR to backup everytime it shuts down, not once weekly.  Thanks
