Which version of Photoshop?
Which filter?

CS6, any filter, when restarting CS opens with fortnunately a copy of the last version of the photo I was working on.

You say: You're not giving us much to go on...., My answer: There is not much more to tell, by clicking any filter the screen "photoshop stopped working" pops up.

It can't be any filter -- because there are many different ones (some plugins, some built-in, some use OpenGL, some use OpenCL, etc.).

Have you installed the 13.0.1 update?

And do you have more than 4 disks assigned to scratch in preferences?

Adobe Photoshop Version: 13.0 (13.0 20120315.r.428 2012/03/15:21:00:00) x64
Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit

The standard filters from PS CS 6 f.i. distort, displace, CS6 has stopped working. It is true, not all filters have the same problem, but it will take some time to find out which ones, since you have to restart PS every time it goes wrong, but is that a job a customer should do?

Change that to 4, then restart. Then go install the 13.0.1 update.
