To initiate the import, are you dragging photos to the LR icon, or clicking the Import button in LR?

That rules out one possibility. (There's a Mac bug with dragging to the LR icon causing Apply During Import to disappear.)

You could try resetting LR's preferences: https://www.lightroomqueen.com/articles-page/how-do-i-reset-lightrooms-preferences/. Sprinkling that magic fairy dust often fixes things when the user interface starts to go screwy. The article shows how to restore your previous preferences if resetting doesn't help.

Larry,
How do you launch the Import window? Do you insert a card into the computer and allow Lightroom Classic to launch the Import window automatically?

Thanks,
Sunil

Yes sometimes, other times using the import button from the library module.

When you are in the state where the Apply During Import panel is missing, if you right-click on the panels and bring up the context menu, does it allow you to toggle it visible?

Can you get me a screenshot of what does show in the context menu?

Mine was also missing. I hit cancel in the Import screen and returned to the Library Module. I hit the Import button and returned to the Import screen and the Apply Now option was there. Not an explanation, but I'm thinking it's nothing we are doing wrong.

I think I finally figured out what triggers this.  It only happens when I insert a memory card and that initiates the import dialog based on "start import when a memory card is inserted" in the preferences is selected.  When I start an import manually from the Library module it never happens.

Larry,

I cannot duplicate what you are seeing regardless of how the preference is set.

You may want to reset your preference file and see if you can repeat the issue.

A Preference File will survive a Lightroom uninstall/reinstall. Sometimes weird behavior is corrected/cured by resetting the preferences.

Reset Procedure:1. Close Lightroom.
2. Hold down [Alt/Opt]+[Shift] while restarting Lightroom.
3. Overwrite the Preferences when prompted by the dialog.
4. Close Lightroom.
5. Restart Lightroom.Does the behavior continue after resetting the preferences?
