Lightroom Classic: Apply develop preset on new virtual copy

I am so grateful for the ability to just hover over a develop preset to see its effect. No more finger cramps from constantly hitting ctrl-z  My new problem is that I never apply presets on the original image so I still have to create a virtual copy, apply the preset and go back to the original image. Many times. Too many times. It would make my life so much easier if I could just right-click on the presets I like and select something like "apply preset on new virtual copy". Program would then create a virtual copy, apply the preset on it while keeping me on the originial image until I've tried all the presets. Major time saving feature. Thanks in advance!

I'm curious.  If you import an image, then create a VC on which you apply a preset, why then are you going back to the original image which doesn't have the preset applied?  It seems to me that you'd either continue editing on the VC with the preset or you didn't really need to apply the preset anyway as you're not doing anything with the image that has it.
