Lightroom CC: Apple photos migration trouble - how to have a second chance ?

Hi,

I've decided to stop managing my photos with apple photos on my old iMac.

After looking for a solution who fit my needs, I've decided to buy (or rent) lightroom cc. The product address my needs, and it's able to import my apple photos library (one time).

During the migration process, there was an error code and no pictures were migrated.

When I try to repeat the migration, this is no longer possible because the tool tells me that I can do it only once.

I agree to do it once, but this unique task should work!

How to solve this situation and reset this counter?

If I can' import my thousands of photos with the metadatas associated, Lightroom cc even if it's a good product, will not be usable for me.

Many thanks for your help

Thierry

Hello Thierry,

Sorry for the issue you had with Apple Photos Migration.
Please provide few more details of the issue so that we can assist you with your migration.

You will be able to see migration logs in the following location on your mac
Lightroom Library.lrlibrary -> migration ->applephotoslibrary
Please share zipped logs (mail me @priyaver@adobe.com) so that we get some insights into what really went wrong with your migration.

Thanks,
Priya

Thanks Thierry,
Can you please share the logs over a shared drive - like google drive. I am not able to access the zipped file you shared to my adobe mail because of some filters on incoming mails.

Appreciate your help,
Priya

Thanks for sharing the logs,
Apologies for the problem you had while migration.

I can connect with you and suggest how to re-migrate. Although, I want to get to  the reason for failure first of all, so that you don't run into same issue again.

I have received your logs and have started investigating the reason for failure.  Allow me some time, I will get back to you within a day to unblock your migration issue.

With a cursory look, I can see some corruption with the face data that is causing problem with migration. Please share with me your photos.db ( Photos Library ->database ->photos.db). It will further help me to narrow down the issue.

Thanks,
Priya

Hi Priya,

how can I share you this photos.db ?
I've found the file "Photos Library", but it's not a folder and its size is 242GB.

Do you want to access it ? How ?

Thanks for your next precisions.

Thierry

Hi Thierry,

you can find it in Photos Library (Right Click and select Show package contents) ->Database->Photos.db
I think it will be good to set up a call so that we can work out a resolution more quickly. Let me know what will be suitable time for you.

Thanks,
Priya

Looking at your logs, it appears that your assets are missing from the path that is mentioned in photos.db (used for migration).

Not able to download the photos.db you've shared. It is resulting in error. I've dropped you an email regarding video conf setup.
