Any way to bind another key other than "shift" to paint straight lines?

We've been wanting this for over a decade! Hopefully someone here can help us.

Basically, when painting in Photoshop you can hold the shift key to paint a straight line, which is great.  However, the shift key ALSO continues the brush stroke from where you left off. This is useful to some people but not to us.  I know you can kind of manage this by starting a line, holding, then pressing shift then continuing it, but this is a pain as most draw pretty fast on Cintiqs or tablets.

What I need to to be able to bind a key to draw straight lines and a separate key to extend lines if needed.  I know this currently is not possible, but was hoping there was a work around. I just think that being able to customize keys like the shift key is really useful and its kinda odd the key does two things with no ability to change it.  One idea  is to not change the shift key at all, but at least give us some binding options to paint straight lines with another key.

Anyone have any insight on this? Thanks!
