Hi,

I am completely new to Photoshop. I've downloaded the newest Trial Version of Photoshop CC. I'v tried the effect shown on the video below (min 2:40-2:49):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BdMOTKysJOk

I press STRG+T to select the layer I want to drag down, Press ALT+Drag Down with mouse afterwards, and the arrow appears when I am exactly in between both layer lines one the right but nothing happens. I am sitting here for over an hour now try to figure out why or how...maybe anyone would be so kind and help me?

Kind regards

Are you perhaps trying to drag a layer below the background layer? That is not possible. You first need to change the background layer to a normal layer before you can do that.

No. Exactly like in the video "Layer2" "Layer1"

The video shows setting the top layer as 'clipping mask' for the layer below. The only thing that should happen is that the top layer icon moves slightly to the right and a hooked arrow appears. You can also achieve this by selecting the menu 'Layer - Create Clipping Mask' or pressing Ctrl-Alt-G.

I am not at home right now. This hooked arrow appears but nothing happens then.

Pressing CTRL-ALT-G while having what layer marked (STRG+T)?

Pressing CTRL-ALT-G while having the layer selected that you wanted to drag. If the hooked arrow appears, then the layer is doing what it's supposed to do and so Photoshop is doing what it's supposed to do. Whether or not you see anything depends on what's in that layer, so I can't comment on that.

If they are trying to tell you to create a clipping layer, like with CRTL-ALT-G, then it is not ALT-Drag... it is ALT-LeftClick. Try to just ALT-Click on that line between layers instead of dragging.
