I have an image sequence with alpha channels. This works fine if loaded as a single file for each of them. However if I load them as an image sequence into a video layer/group, the alpha channel is gone ... What is wrong ?

Which product are you using?

And did you really mean alpha channel (which wouldn't really apply to a video), or did you mean transparency?

Hi Chris,
I ́m new to Photoshop CS 6 and try out the new video functions.
In the end I need trasparency, however so far understood you need to activate an alpha channel for that... but this alphachannel that is within the single pictures is gone as soon as I load that picture(s) into a video sequence. So I didn ́t continue to learn how to get transparency from an alphachannel as there is none in the video where I want this transparency ...

alpha channels and transparency are different things, though transparency is a subset of possible alpha channels. Alpha channels are generally saved selections, or spot color channes, while transparency has special meaning and handling.

Now as to the problem you're having: you haven't told us which application you're using, or which version, or what file format you're having problems with.

I ́m rendering out with cinema 4d, tried both, PSD and TIFF files. I get my Image sequence with alpa channel, this way I should be possible to stamp out background and only have the rendered object as an overlay to a video.
Before I got PS 6 I solved that by rendering again with that video to be overlayed as a background, however would be nice to save this time and raise quality if I use PS 6 to overlay that rendered objects using the alpha channel from the image sequence. Imagine you do a nice end/copyright information as a 3d motion and want to reuse it on several videos you made without having to render that 3D stuff again. The implemented alpha channel should make this possible - but how if that alpha channel doesn ́t show when loading this image sequence into a second video layer I see there is an option to ? There is an option for video layers to interpret alpha channel - however all options are greyed out, for me obciously because the alpha channel is cut - see screenshot. I have activated alpha so you see the red mask, however with the video layer made from this pic the alpha options are not accessable ...

I assume you mean Photoshop CS6 (13.0) since Photoshop 6 is about 10 years old...
