I often like to crop as I go through and do my ratings (sometimes on first pass i.e. 1 star, usually on second pass). Since I can't use the mouse scroll wheel in develop module, and it's slower to load the images in the develop module, I go through my images in library module. hit r to crop then go back to library but the round trip is kind of a pain. It'd be smoother to let me crop in library mode.

I fully agree to this. When I am cropping, I like to browse through my photos fast.

Develop mode is just too slow for this. What makes it even worse is that switching between photos in crop mode actually takes longer than leaving crop mode, switching to the next photo and going back into crop mode. Part of the reason probably is that LR often first tries to render a cropped version of the already cropped photo which leads to a completely wrong rendering.

I don't know how I managed to make the title "Lightoroam" but I can't figure out how to edit it.
