Allow the choice of start up screen rather than defaulting to what was inn use when shut dow. For reasons unknot I ended up at the "Home" screen and needed support to get back to a start up page I recognised.

Hello Rex,

Presumably you share your computer with at least one other person and they select a startup screen that confuses you.  It is a bit hard to imagine how you could end up with an unfamiliar startup screen if you are the only person using the computer.  There is an option in Edit>Preferences to select a Legacy start up screen, but this might not be what you want either.  Unless the choice can be implemented like a preference setting, I'd be a bit lukewarm if I encountered a pre startup screen that asked me which startup screen I wanted.

Good luck.

Hi Rex, you can disable the Home screen by going to Preferences > General... and unchecking "Auto show the Home Screen"

Otherwise, you can hit the esc key to hide the home screen at any time if you do have it enabled.
