Lightroom CC: Allow selecting a subset of online pictures when disk space is limited

While on my desktop I can give Lightroom a Terra byte of disk space, this is difficult on a 256GB portable with an extra 256GB of memory stick. I'd like to be able to choose by filter (on my desktop) a subset of the pictures which then load onto my portable when I go on a trip.

You should be able to right-click on an Album or a Folder and select "Store Album Locally". Then allow time for the photos to download before traveling.

Doesn't work. Store Album Locally does not occur. The picture shows you what occurs at either the Album or folder level.

If the Store Album Locally option is not available that means you've likely set your Preferences to Store All Files locally. Uncheck that option in preferences and you should then see the option (after a restart.).

You are right. I was trying to load my 1.5GB. Thanks. I'll try this if my new 1GB fails to load, but it hasn't arrived yet.

You may want to add your 'Me To' vote and 'Follow' at the below 'Idea' post. I've suggested an option to allow using lossy DNG file copies for sync to LR CC Mobile devices and/or LR Web. Don't let the word "lossy" scare you away! If adopted it will increase the effective storage space on your mobile device and in the Cloud by approximately 400%. Give it a read and please feel free to provide any comments both pro and con. Thank you!

I'd do the opposite, full backup to the cloud, but smaller compressed backup to your computer. This assumes you can translate the operations you perform correctly.
In the near future, with 5G, size will still be a problem, but bandwidth will not be. It may eventually not be useful to have local copies. We will then be once again in the realm of central computing with accessories to access them.
