You can search by Smart Preview in Library Filter, but it doesn't appear you can search by any of the other types of Previews though (?)

I only build standard ones (to keep things quick & simple) and wanted to check which images do or don't have them already but I can't find a quick way to find this out without the Library Filter. Any ideas??

I don't think there's any way to search for the status of standard and 1:1 previews. However, do you know that if you invoke Library > Previews > Build Standard-Sized Previews, it won't rebuild previews for files that already have them? Is there another reason you'd like to search the status of previews?

Thanks John.

Re: Library > Previews > Build Standard-Sized Previews, it won't rebuild previews for files that already have them.

I thought as much but the backdrop to raising the issue is that I had been shooting a boxing tournament so had thousands of "fast frame" shots to review. I swore I had built the Standard previews when downloading the cards to my laptop on location, but when I got home imported the images from that catalogue to my "main Lightroom" PC catalogue I noticed that the Standard previews didn't appear to be there, so I wanted to check into it in more detail before proceeding. Not hopefully a common issue but it would be nice to quickly get info on the preview status of images.

When you do Import From Another Catalog, I don't believe the previews are imported -- they have to be recomputed. (But if someone knows better, please correct me.)

Hmmm..
That would be good to know (would've saved lots of wasted time preparing them on the laptop!!)

If that is the case though, it would be good to know if that can be considered for a software upgrade, as it would be a help....
thx.

If you verify that the previews aren't being imported from the other catalog, it would be best to post a new feature request with an appropriate subject line. That will make it more likely Adobe and others will see it.
