ALL presets gone after upgrading to LR5

Hi guys,
- I realize that this problem has been discussed earlier. I've read it all - and ALL my presets are still gone.
- this is my story...

I ran LR4 with a pile of (commercially bought) presets + my very own (my brand, really).
I installed the LR5 trial, ran it for 24 days WITH my presets and all was fine.
I bought the upgrade license, installed it - and

ALL my presets are gone. And I cannot seem to physically located them anywhere on disc - I suppose I choose to 'Store preset in catalogue' or something.

Eh...this is not very good. I'm rather very frustrated about all this.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Thank you ever so much!

Best regards,
Verner K.

Hi Verner,

There was a bug in Lightroom 5, where the "Store presets with catalog" preference was not maintained when moving from Lightroom 4 to Lightroom 5. Try going into Preferences and rechecking that option. You may need to restart Lightroom. See if your presets show up then.

Hi Becky and thank you for your answer!

Well...I tried what you suggest, only when doing so one can watch the list of presets change - a few coming on, a few going.

- All in all, I thought they were all lost. So... I managed to locate them in a backup. I manually copied them into the Development Preset directories from within LR5. Restarted LR5. After a bit of fiddling about, trying this and that - I got it!

I managed to get all presets - but my own - back into place. My own presets (still) seems to have gone for good. I can't locate them anywhere so I guess that's it.

But luckily I can recall most of my settings (my style :-)), so I was able to reconstruct the most important ones.

I do hope my question and your answer will be beneficial to others facing the same trouble. One thing I don't understand though...I only saw the problems AFTER I actually went from trial to licensed. That's when it all started....

Anyhow..again...thanks a lot!

Hi Verner,

Glad to hear you were able to recover at least some of the presets. When you went from trial to licensed, did you change catalogs at all? If you were storing presets with the catalog used in the trial version, it would make sense that the catalog used with the licensed version would not see those (assuming it was a different catalog).

Hi again - and thank You for your help!

- hm.... Perhaps I was really thinking clear when using the trial version. I may *very well' have changed from external preset storage to internal catalogue ditto. Or I may have changed (or something) during the course of the trial. That would indeed make sense. I *do* recall having experimentet - playing around - with different catalogues mainly for trying out if that would be of organizational value.

Well...all in all...problem solved! Now I can get back to making pictures!

Best regards,
