Photoshop CC 2018: After installing the update, my wacom cintiq stopped working properly

After installing the new photoshop 2018, my wacom cintiq stopped working properly. Some of her functions simply did not work. I reinstalled photoshop 2018 and the cintiq drive and continued the problem. It only came back to normal after I went back to the previous version of photoshop 2017.
Has anyone had the same problem?

Yes, I have this problem with my Wacom Intuous Large tablet. The "Rotate" function will not work. I called Wacom, and they were stumped. The tech guy told me it was Adobe's fault. I explained that Wacom was supposed to work with Photoshop, but he didn't agree and concluded the troubleshooting session. I suspect Wacom will discover they have a small flaw in their software, fix it and update the driver. Until then we might be stuck.

Sure. Sure it's Wacom's Glitch after the Adobe Software update. Nevermind it worked before the sweeping Adobe Update (which had a huge amount of bugs), it's "probably" Wacom's fault.

BTW, I was being sarcastic.

I had the same issue on my HP Spectre since the last update. MUST Uninstall the WINDOWS Update and TURN OFF the Auto Update option. Its a little tricky finding the damn thing, but for now PSCc is working normal again with my Wacom Tablet.

Try resetting the tablet Preference file using the Wacom 'Tablet Preference File Utility' 'Remove' function. Make a 'Backup' first using the utility so you can  'Restore' it if the issues persist.

I have also spent hours on the telephone to both Adobe and Wacom.  My Wacom Intuos Pro has stopped working altogether since the 2018 photoshop cc was deployed.  I have now had to revert to the 2017 version of photoshop to enable my Wacom to work again.  Unfortunately resetting the tablet preference file did not resolve the issue.

I'm running PS 2018 on Windows 7 with a Wacom Intuos 4 Medium tablet using driver version 6.3.20-3 with no issues. I'm guessing the users with tablet issues are on OS X or perhaps Windows 10.

windows 10 here (creators edition (not my idea)) with a Intuos 4 Large.  I don't care for most of the changes in CC so far.  But the rotate function in PS is my most used tool.  My productivity the last couple weeks is really down.  Tried everything.  Can I go back to the 2017 version?

I think you can. That was what Adobe's assistance recommended to do.

I think the problem is still with the interaction between adobe photoshop 2018 and wacom. Earlier this week, there was an update of Wacom after my complaint and the problems persist. Only solves it when it comes back to the latest version of photoshop. I will wait to correct the error to install the new version.

For those that are having issues:
What exactly is failing to function?
What OS is being used?
What Wacom driver version is in use?
If running on Win 10 is Windows Ink enabled in the Wacom control panel?
If Windows ink is not being used is the PSUserConfig gestalt being used to revert to the WinTab implementation? If PSUserConfig file was being used in PS2017 was it added to the PS 2018 location?

We were previously using the intous medium tablet but a couple of months ago purchased the intous pro (PTH-660).  We have downloaded the latest drivers (after contacting Wacom support) and are using windows 2007.  In photoshop 2018 we are still unable to use any functions and are even unable to zoom using the pen or fingers.

Thank you Mike Shaw for your response.  The only problem I am having is that the Rotate function does not work on my Intuous Large tablet. I am running Windows 10, and when I spoke with the Wacom tech he confirmed I have the latest drivers. He also had me reset preferences but that did not work. We did a few other changes to the Wacom Tablet Properties, but to no avail. My Table worked a few minutes before I updated to Photoshop CC 2018, so it is clearly a problem of Wacom compatibility with CC2018. I intend to go back to my old Wacom tablet to see if that works with CC2018.

This problem with the rotate not working is happening to me on win 8.1
I am running a cintiq 22 hd with the latest driver.
I start ps 2018 and bring up a document and the rotate will work but if I hit B for brush draw a line then rotate will not work again.
Go back to Ps2017 and it all works ok.
This looks like an Adobe problem.

I fixed the problem by turning the OpenGL support on in my preferences.

I followed the steps listed here - https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/gpu-opengl-features-preferences-photoshop.html

No that is not the solution to my problem.
This is how I see the problem.when ps2018 opens a document I can rotate it. But as soon as I hit the B key it breaks the link.
I believe that at that point PS is screwing the command up. The eyedropper flashes where the cursor was and the underscores on the top menu line flashes under the first letters. Eg F for file E for edit.
I do not know what Wacom sends to rotate but it is almost like ALT something. Now we know Adobe has screwed up the ALT commands like ALT backspace and this looks like the same problem but because of the wheel/slider happens a lot very quickly.

Vinegar, I have completely same issue with my Wacom/Photoshop Win10 combination. Pressing R is a workaround, but I liked touch wheel functionality a lot...

Im not sure - i hit B and L quite a bit while working, and that fix held... Im on a Mac, so it might be different for Windows users. But it is working fine for me now. It is annoying that it had to be turned back on, when i had it all set in CC 2017 before hand (and still do)

The only issue I have run into is that the pressure sensitivity no longer functions with CC 2018, unless I turn on Windows Ink, and we all know how much of a nightmare Windows Ink is. Everything else functions properly.

Windows 10 Pro
Wacom Intuos Pro Medium

I also see that they fixed the hotkey bug which would occur when saving a PNG or TGA. Thanks for that. But now you gotta fix the pressure sensitivity issue :(

There is a known issue with alt key shortcut behaviors that we are working on getting a fix out as soon as we can.

If you have to avoid using Windows Ink this link will guide you on setting the PSUserConfig file to fall back to WinTab.

Well the alt key thing that I was having problems with was a 2017 issue and it doesnt seem to be a problem in 2018. So there must be something else going on that people are complaining about.

I had already tried that and never got it to work until now. Turns out, just restarting photoshop doesnt fix it, but this time I unplugged my tablet first, then restarted photoshop and now it's working! For anyone with the same woes as me, try that out.

My Intuous Pro Tablet "Rotate" function would not work on the touch ring. I just spoke with Wacom, and they told me to uninstall the Wacom tablet, then reinstall. This did not work. I still can't use the Rotate function on the tablet.

I'd recommend just using the rotation tool, via 'R' on your keyboard.

The keyboard shortcut that is used for rotation utilizes the alt key. as mentioned above there is currently an issue with shortcuts that utilize the alt key.

I am having an issue with the express keys not working for PS CC 2018. Working on a Mac Pro, With El Catain 10.11.6. I have the Intous Pro Medium, newest version, purchased yesterday after my PTH-651 version stopped charging yesterday. I went in to the Wacom setup, created a PS CC 2018 expressway commands. They are there in the Wacom setup screen but  when I open PS, I only get the "All Other" functions displayed in PS CC 2018. I setup expresskey commands for Bridge 2018 and they work fine....any ideas?

I have also problems with my photoshop cc2018 and cintiq 24 hd touch. After I installed photoshop cc2018 I was able to work for a while. Eager to check out the new function of grouping brushes, I took the time to organize my brushes, what worked.  But the next time I opened Photoshop cc2018,  I couldn't reprogram a button  with my express key properties.
Today I encountered serious problems. My artpen doesn't work on my tablet, even after closing and opening my tablet again.  None of the buttons to open my wacom tablet properties react. Restarting my computer several times will not help.

I'm getting this pop-up now. (see image)
I am lucky for still having installed the 2015.5.1 version. With this one, my cintiq works without any problem. I hope this problem will be solved for the photoshop cc2018. For the moment I'm working again with the older version.

A few day after I posted this message, I was able to work with Photoshop cc2018 and cintiq again. This is good news. This is what is functioning again:
+ my brushes are grouped and my art pen works on my cintiq again
+ I can activate my wacom tablet properties and change expresskeys
But I still have problems:
The top button of my touchring autoscroll zoom works, but not the other two:
- the Rotate in Photoshop doesn't work with my touchring = programmed on touchring, "rotate")
- Brush size: programmed on touchring with keystrokes [  counter-clockwise and  ] clockwise
It would be great, if these could work again too.

if you open the image file on the cintiq rotate will not work, you have to open the image file on a separate PNP monitor. we tried 2 files at the same time. drag the app to a PNP open file and its fine, drag back to cintiq and open another file so they are side by side, the cintiq file does not support OPENGL but the file opened on PNP will still rotate. so NOT photoshop.

So why does it work in PS 2017 then?

It would be good to know if there actually is a button sequence that could trigger rotation increments in Ps. Like for example 11.25° at a time, and eight steps yield a 90° counter clockwise turn of the artboard. Then it would be easy to assign keystrokes to the tablet touch Ring which always has been working well, whereas Rotation command practically never recently worked properly.

I've tried different combinations of R-+ and Alt-R-+ and similar but no luck.

I think I have finally found a work around until Adobe gets their act together.

I am on win 8.1      PS2018      Cintiq 22hd      and am right handed...

My express keys on the LEFT below the touch strip toggle button are ALT  CTRL   SHIFT

The ROTATE command was on the RIGHT touch strip

.... and as we know that doesn't work

The ALT express key (above) was set to left ALT

I changed this to RIGHT ALT

Now whilst hold that right alt button down I can now rotate. huh

Although I work with a Wacom Intuos Pro, I encountered some issues with Ps CC 2018 as well. Most important: pen pressure and brush shape dynamics don't work at all ..! Wacom driver is latest version 6.3.25-5.
In Ps CC 2017 everything is okay. So I decided to uninstall CC 2018 and roll back to cc 2017... To bad Adobe. And you can't blame Wacom, since their drivers worked so far in older CC-versions.

CC 2018 defaults to windows ink and breaks pen pressure if you turn it off.

You need to make the PSUserConfig file for 2018 to get your stuff working again.

Just type this in:

# Use WinTab
UseSystemStylus 0

Save the file as a plain text file named PSUserConfig.txt, and save the file into the Photoshop settings folder: C:\Users\[User Name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2018\Adobe Photoshop CC 2018 Settings\

Restart Photoshop and it should work.

What this does is tells Photoshop to use the device and its drivers instead of Windows Ink.

No. I installed Ps CC 2018 update and tried rotating artboard with PTH-651 touch-ring running Wacom driver 6.3.23-4 on macOS 10.13.1. Hence the old driver as the latest one introduces a nasty bug.

Anyhow I'm pretty certain that this broken rotating feature is Wacom's bad. It hasn't been working for me on a Mac in a long time, and hitting keyboard R has obviously always worked.
