Lightroom Desktop: When deleting all but one image from a stack, select image near to stack rather than default to first image.

For example, I create HDR merge, which creates a stack of 4 photos (the HDR one, then the three bracketed shots). When I delete the three bracketed shots from the stack, the main grid jumps to the very top -- causing me to lose my place in the middle of thousands of photos.

When I delete from a stack, the grid should stay on the photos I'm working with, not jump all the way to the top.

Please fix this!

How do you have your Grid set to sort?

Hi there. I have it sorted by capture date. It just jumps to the top after deleting.

If you sort by File Name does the same behavior happen?

Yes, it happens under any sorting.

After conferring with the engineers this behavior is currently as-designed. When you remove the three images from the stack, it does a couple of things.
1. It creates a stack of 1 - which cannot exist so the image is left standing alone without a stack from which it was originally.
2. It also leaves no image selected

When this happens we default to the first image in the Album. We are looking at different behaviors for this scenario currently which would you leave you nearer to where you were, likely an adjacent image.

I am converting this to a feature request so we can track it as a change in behavior request rather than a bug.

Thank you so much for explaining. Making this a feature would be awesome, and save a lot of time -- maybe it could default to the first image on the same row in the grid/viewer.

It's also good to know I'm not crazy for missing something here.

Again, thanks for your help!
