Afraid to Upgrade (Is it truly safe yet to move from LR 3.x to LR 4.2?)

I have a very robust, custom built Windows system, and LR 3 is working as users know and expect LR 3 to work. I desire the improved image processing of 4.2 but am paralyzed with fear of turning my nice fast system into the kind of slow-motion nightmare so many users describe here in the forums. Is LR 4 improved enough that I can now upgrade with confidence?

It's safe to try it, but consider Lr4.3RC instead.

Lr4/PV2012 rocks! (beware: it takes some time to get the hang of editing with PV2012 controls).

PS - If you expect it to be every bit as fast as Lr3, you may be disappointed.
Conversely, if you expect to have the kind of problems that are being had by a vocal minority, you may be pleasantly surprised!

Do not fear!

Even if worse comes to worst, just un-install - it won't adversely affect your computer or Lr3 installation.

The trial can answer your questions before you decide to pay for anything:

Alternatively download and install the LR 4.3 RC (public beta) from Adobe labs: http://labs.adobe.com/

if things seem slow, try using a newly catalog from LR4 instead of a converted LR 3.x catalog.

So, which revision of 4 did you install, and how's it working?

(don't tell me you got cold feet ;-})
