If you receive a hash mismatch error when attempting to download and install the Mac desktop version of Adobe Revel 1.1 (formerly Adobe Carousel).

Note: Adobe Carousel was renamed to Adobe Revel with this update.

1. Close App Store app and Adobe Carousel
2. Drag earlier version of Adobe Carousel from Applications to the trash
3. Empty the trash
4. Download and install update again from the Mac App Store

If for some reason you continue to have difficulties please post here

Thanks,

-Dave

Hi Kevin,

Can you try deleting the prior version before trying the update. Please follow up if you're still having difficulties.

Thanks,

Dave, I followed the instructions above and am still having the problem. What is funny is that it seems to get almost to the end of the download and then it restarts at 0 bites again. It is happening both on my iMac and my MacBook.

Hi JRErickson

What OS version are you using precisely? If not 10.7.2, can you update to that, try all this again, and let us know you if that improves things for you? Internet searching indicates 10.7.2 is thought to fix this as an App Store bug.

In addition to the steps above, can you also check that Carousel/Revel appears to be deleted from Launchpad (click the little rocket icon to launch that). So, the new steps would be:
1. Close the Mac App Store
2. Ensure Adobe Carousel or Revel is removed from /Applications and also Launchpad.
3. Empty Trash
4. Try downloading the app again from the App Store. If the Install button doesn't seem available, try holding down option while clicking the app in the app store to force it to re-install.

If none of this helps, please let us know, and we'll do some deeper cleaning, things leftover in your user /Library. Other users having similar issues report that rebuilding LaunchServices solved their problem--we'll try that later, if necessary.

To completely remove Adobe Revel off you mac, here's a list of items to clean:

/Applications/Adobe Revel.app
~/Pictures/Adobe Revel Library.cr (or /Adobe Carousel Library.cr for build 1.0.3)
~/Library/Caches/com.adobe.Carousel.mac
~/Library/Caches/Adobe Carousel
~/Library/Containers/com.adobe.Carousel.mac
~/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.Carousel.mac.
~/Library/Saved\ Application\ State/com.adobe.Carousel.mac.savedState

I am on 10.7.2. I was able to get the app deleted from my system and now it does not show up in my apps to upgrade tab, so I am happy. I tried the service for the 30 day period, but since it does not support RAW or DNG file types it really is not a useful solution for me.

Why won't the app download the update? Prior to Revel it was downloaded without issue.

Hi Mario

What version of OS X are you running? Revel requires OS X 10.7, but the prior version of the app would install and fail to run on OS X 10.6. This is requirement is now fixed on the app store, and this may explain why you can't install a new build from the Mac App Store.
