How do you "Group photos from multiple dates into a single event"?

+ by the date, enter event name. When you go to do it by another date the recent event name is displayed so you just click on it.

I was asking about this feature a few days back, I'm impressed Adobe shipped it so quickly considering i was led to believe it would be some time.

I was discussing Revel with some guys at work who thought it was expensive, and Picasa offered the same for free. With the update I don't believe that to be correct, Adobe seem to be the first company to achieve an online, private, syncronised photo Album.

What you describe works for me only if they have the same date. If I click on the + by an image with a different date, it lets me create a new event, but not add it to an existing event. If they have the same date, the option is there to add it to an existing event. I am testing on a mac and an iPad.

If you click the + by photos with a different date you should get Set Event Name and Set Date & Time, within the Set Event Name option is an option for Add to Event for adding photos existing events.

Thats exactly what I am seeing ... but ONLY IF they have the same date. That option does not appear if the photo has a different date than the event does.

If the dates are +/- 6 days apart and have the same event name, they get displayed together.

I am including a screenshot of the problem. You can see there is a "Sample Event" create above, but it does not show up as an option to add to an existing event.

Events are tags on photos. When you apply an event name to a date, it applies that event tag to all the photos in the date. If photos on multiple days within the same week have the same event tagged to them, they will be automatically displayed together in the same track.

(The reason for the "within the same week" criteria is in case you have events that occur every week, they should still appear in the right chronological order.)

ok ... so "Group photos from multiple dates into a single event" doesn't tell the whole story. Sure would be nice to group any pictures together that we choose, regardless of date. I think from the user experience, the date event is overrated. Its more about grouping images together that belong together.

All that said, this update took this product from unusable to usable (for me). Thank you.

That's a good point about the feature description. We changed it elsewhere to say "Ability to tag photos with an Event name" which is more accurate.

We're working on Albums next. Albums would be for arbitrary groupings.

Glad you like this update!! We've got plenty more to do, but we wanted to solve some of the low hanging fruit first.

Is the event tag stored as a standard metadata tag when photos are exported from Revel?

On my Mac I am not able to change date on photos without date. When I click Adjust Date nothing happens.
test
Photos with a date can be modified.
