MacOS 10.8 (Mountain Lion) doesn't remember size of save dialog

Since upgrading to Mountain Lion, the save/ save as dialogs always appear in the smallest size box making it impossible to use until I resize larger. This happens every time with all Adobe products including Photoshop CS4, Dreamweaver CS 5.5 and Acrobat Professional 8.3. This does not happen with programs from other companies including Apple products.

Is there an available fix which would enable Photoshop and others from Adobe to remember the last used size of the save dialog?

No, because that is entirely up to the OS.
Normally that is saved in the application plist file by the OS code.
If it is not working, then you may have a problem with the permissions on your preferences directory.

Is there a global plist file or individual files for Adobe apps? If so, am I correct in assuming that the fix would be to trash those files?

It is an plist per application.
com.adobe.photoshop.plist

Trashing them might help - but we don't know yet why the OS isn't saving the dialog size into them.
