Photoshop: very confused about older software and old third party scanner drivers

I bought Photoshop and CS2 from you. They were expensive. I downloaded Adobe Reader and Flashplay because you offer them for free. I used to be able to scan images from my printer to my computer using "import" in Photoshop and I could choose whether they were PDF or Jpg or doc. First you turned off the scan to doc from Photoshop. You put it into Adobe Reader to convert PDF to Doc. now tonight I discovered that you decided to try to make me pay for the conversion. Did you know that OJ Simpson got 33 years for trying to get property that he believed belonged to him back? You may think you are entitled to be paid but I paid for Photoshop and for CS2 and for my computer and my printer. I deeply hold it against you that you, using the premise of an "Update" you sneaked into my house and stole a function, a tool, from me, and now want to be paid for what I do at home with my computer. You are becoming an obnoxious company in the unethical way that you behave. A few weeks ago you stole a whole bunch of my time by advertising so aggressively that you wold show up between steps in my email to hijack me to a website of yours trying to sell me something. Now you've pulled this stunt. Lexmark in the previous century could translate an image into text. I see one of the options on Feedback is to report Piracy. I thought of clicking on that option to report how you are acting like Pirates. How would you like it if a car company under false pretenses had you bring your car in and then while there, took away something the car was able to do and then asked to be paid to be able to continue to do that function again, like using a turn signal? Kodak tried to do what you are doing. they tried to get between me and my camera and my computer and my photos and tried to charge, once they inserted themselves. I never used them again. Obviously many people thought the way I did.You are supposed to be supplying a service to people, not getting into the break in and steal and hold hostage business. It was a text recipe. I prefer to keep recipes as documents so that as I work with it I can add or delete instructions. Why don't you fix it before the word spreads on social media? I used this page to give the company Feedback. Now it turns out that they take what you post and post it on some page as a question. I realize that you are up against Picassa which is free and simple. I don't think that acting unethically is the answer to your problem. I already logged in to write this and now you are asking me to login again, and if I go to the login page, you are likely to lose this whole comment and then expect me to retype it again.

And I don't appreciate that you posted this using my whole name. You got my name when I registered for ownership warranty purposes and so that I could get technical help. That does not mean that I want my name plastered over the internet. It wasn't my User name. So you have gone rifling through my computer to get my whole name.which is also offensive. What is it with you people? To say you were raised in a barn would be a compliment.
If you want me to put this on Facebook, I can.

Are you telling us (»us« as in users of this site, not Adobe or Adobe employees) that you recently installed a Photoshop CS2 update?
Because as far as I understand Adobe stops offering updates to Photoshop when a new version is released, so something about this seems somewhat peculiar to me.

I have given this some thought and I think you may have opened yourself to criticism on two counts.

First for an offensive tone and a badly structured post. (The second is probably subjective, but more than 2000 characters without a paragraph seems somewhat willful.)

Secondly: I have in the meantime had opportunity to use a computer with Photoshop CS2 installed.
Under File > Import I noticed no scan-command.
So I wonder if what you seem to think was Adobe-provided functionality was actually a TWAIN plug-in provided by your scanning device’s makers.
In which case your complaint to Adobe would be misdirected.

Thank you for responding. I use a PC desktop and an HP all in one printer. The CS2 is on a non working laptop at the moment. I use Photoshop 6. I have not changed anything. I used to be able to go to Photoshop and say Import and it knew to go to the printer and start the scan.If I ticked off Black and White text rather than color or grayscale, it knew it was text and gave me the chance to save is as .doc.(It is not as if it wants to save it as docx.)

As a back up, if I had to scan it as a PDF I knew I could go to Reader, open it, and save it as a doc or text or rich text. Now after a couple of nasty updates, where I had to communicate back and forth with Comcast who knew well the problem with Adobe, Reader says "Do you want to sign up and pay a charge for a year?" People who know me know that I get very upset when tools are taken away from me, like towns in California are taking away paper bags. Things are working. You go to sleep. You wake up and there's a notice, "we updated your software." You go there to use it and they have taken something away.

A month ago everything was fine and they updated Reader or Flashplayer and all of a sudden I could not read my email without being taken to an Adobe website and being offered to download software for a price. This was at every step of email, looking at it, replying to it, printing it, going to another email. That is when I called Comcast. The tech woman said she had the same problem as I did and has dealt with lots of complaints on the subject.. I sent all sorts of messages to Adobe about that one. Adobe did another update and that went away.

So they are playing around with more than one Adobe program.

I remember when I went to a Help page there was a message that if you didn't like it, to retype whatever you were trying to scan as text. Thanks a lot. How much money have I spent to be told to "retype it"? Gee, where's my carbon paper?

I recognize the MO. Kodak tried it, inserting themselves every chance they got.

PS I can still hit Import in Photoshop and have it start the scan of a color photo or grayscale or a Black and white photo and save it as a Jpeg jpg or about 20 other options which are pictures, but they are not doc where one can go in and add or subtract text. .
