Photoshop Elements: Not responding message when I save image changes

Adobe Elements 9 says not responding when I save image changes. I does eventually save the image changes but takes awhile. Is this normal? My computer is rinning Windows 7 and I have 8GB of ram so I don't think that ram memory is the problem. Thanks

That is strange. Does this happen every single time you save a file? Are there any other applications running at the same time?

It does it everytime that I save an image in .png format. I only have Outlook and Internet Explorer running.

How long does the "Not Responding" message appear? This message is reported by the OS when the application is busy (but can also appear when the application is frozen). It just means that it is no longer responding to calls from the OS. If it completes the task, I wouldn't worry about it, unless it is taking a really long time.

It shows up at the very top of Photoshop Elements 9. It's not taking a very long time but it is annoying. I want to install actions etc. in the program so I wanted to make sure that it was working correctly before I took all the time to install them then have to reinstall Adobe and have to do it all over again. Does everyone have this same thing happen with Elements 9?

Are you saving to a network location? An external drive attached by USB? Non-hard drive media (flash drive, memory card)? How much free space is available where you are saving (as a percentage of the disk size)? How large are these files (pixel dimensions)?
