Am I even in the right place. I have Adobe Photoshop Elements 13 for Mac. I cannot cut and paste text into an image I am working on. I can cut and paste everywhere else, just not into this application. The paste command under the Edit menu is grayed out. Any suggestions before I try to get a refund?

Any. I've tried from Word, Firefox, and BBEdit.

Hi Scott,

You should be able to do so. For this, you first need to create a Type Textbox on the image/background and then click on it so that mouse focus is set to the text area. Now, paste the copied text.
Hope this helps.

Thanks

Yes, that's what I've done. I tried pasting into an existing layer that has type text box and when that didn't work, I created a new document and created a type text box, but no, still no ability to simply cut and paste text into it.

Thanks,

-Scott

The simple answer was that I needed to be in Expert mode. Cutting and pasting is for "experts" only.
