Adobe Photoshop CS4 Licensing Terminated

Since 2008 I have used Photoshop CS4 + associated software, without problems.
Lately I could not open CS4, running on an iMac under Windows 8.1. Message "Licensing for this product has stopped working" Error 148.3.
http: www.adobe.com/support - website provides no relevant user advice.
The program is no longer available for uninstallation through Control Panel and cannot be opened from the .exe file direct.
Similar complaints 4 years ago, on internet, resulted in a series of instructions which are totally irrelevant to Windows 8.1.
Does Adobe or anyone else please know the answer to this vexing problem?

Sounds like some of the licensing files have been corrupted or deleted.
Generally you just need to reactivate the software by entering your serial number again.

Thanks, Chris.
Could not start Photoshop CS4 because Licensing message appears first and requires computer re-start.

Found another way to resolve this problem (using Windows 8.1).
Click on 'Settings', then Control Panel; use drop down to select 'All Control Panel Items', click 'Administrative Tools', double-click 'Services' and scroll down to
FLEXnet Licensing Service. Right click, select 'Properties' and change Startup type to 'Automatic' - Click Ok.
This worked for me.

Did you move the Photoshop application from one computer to another?

Ultimately, if the Flexnet folder is missing, just reinstall CS4 and enter the serial # to re-activate. Details, instructions for reinstallation here:  http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/how_do_i_download_photoshcs6_onto_my_second_computer

I have tried reinstalling Photoshop CS4 many times. The installation stalls at 80%. My computer does NOT have the Flexnet folder. It is so maddening to buy software and then not be able to use it.

Did you move the Photoshop application from one computer to another? It's possible you're hitting a permissions issue. Have you tried running under a new admin account and installing from there? Troubleshoot user permissions
