Same here...updated all cloud apps in my package, now photoshop will not show recent files, nor will it open any images. Have tried suggested fix by moving "cc 2017" settings file to desktop and it does not help....BAH!!! this is rediculous!
DOES NOT WORK!

Windows System. Have had this problem on 2 computers for weeks (first with CC 2015 & then with CC 2017)

I just went into Control Panel / Programs and Features & uninstalled all Lavasoft stuff (Ad Aware & Web Companion) - BINGO! It's all working again.

I could not uninstall Lavasoft, option to do so was not there, tried renaming the dll file.  This got Photoshop CC 2017 working but stopped Lightroom 2015 syncing.  Changed the dll file back and Lightroom synced again but photoshop 2017 stopped.  Downloaded Lavasoft, reinstalled it, restarted PC, lavasoft worked.  Then I uninstalled lavasoft, restarted pc and hey-presto I am back to the beginning, Photoshop CC 2017 has stopped working.  Fortunately 2015 still works!

Downgraded my version too, thanks for the tip Mr. Koh.

I guess that the problem is not where the people are from but the amount of experience they have as developers. They can be from friggin' Mars, if they've never developed any progam at all it's bound to have issues and the users are the ones who end up paying.

Hello brothers don't be prejudiced! Recently I am also not happy about how adobe photoshop brings something new with every update and create some mess same time.

Coming back to topic I removed Lavasoft and now its working fine.

Did you follow the instructions on the Lavasoft website for removing their adware? https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/crash-lavasoft-conflict.html

Try this first.

Does resetting preferences help?  When you double click to open PS hold down Command Option Shift. (Mac) or Ctrl alt Shift (Win)  Then click OK to trash preferences.

Do you get a crash dialog with any useful information.  If you get a crash dialog please paste the stack into this forum so we can investigate.

Also is this with all images or just some images or all images?

The crash dialog (I'm not sure how to get the official crash report) says: "Adobe Photoshop CC 2017 has stopped working     A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

Well, Windows hasn't notified me yet.  I'm guessing a solution isn't yet available.

I'm not an IT guy and this would have brought me to a complete standstill except that I followed Mr. Koh's suggestion and am currently 2015.5.

I've just had the same experience. I've updated to Photoshop CC 2017 and now it won't work. It loads up and when I try to create a new image, all the menu options are grayed out.

I have exactly the same problem, can't run anything as admin either as I need a password that I don't have access to. Installed CS 2015 for the time being just to do some work.

GRRRRRR I am having the same issue. Beta Testers Unite.. I spend a lot of money on this stuff.. At least I'm not the only one. So we have to do all the Product support ourselves? I have no Lavasoft anything anywhere.. Audition works great, Illustrator and Photoshop won't launch, and if it does, no ability to create new or open image files of any type... Audition WILL crash every once in a while, but at least it works for the most part. but for $50+ a month, I want a discount for the troubles.. Sorry to rant, but I used to work at a graphics software company and I know what we did to fix issues that caused our users pain.. Let's get to it ADOBE

Oh, And i did try all of these suggestions with no luck..

VERY helpful! I renamed C:\WINDOWS\system32\LavasoftTcpService64.dll because Lavasoft wasn't showing anywhere, and it worked. I'm back in business. Thanks!

Adobe's solution is - Uninstall or disable Lavasoft software and/or associated software

I just rolled back to 2015.5 and am NOT going to upgrade until they fix this.  I depend on my Lavasoft software and can't Uninstall or disable them.

I don't even have any Lavasoft products. I use Win 10 and since I upgraded all the CC apps, I can open PS but as soon as I start a new project I get the spinning icon and nothing happens. I have to go to the task manager to close a not responding photoshop... :(

I just installed PS CC 2017 and received the same error message. After searching online and the solution seem to be uninstalling Lavasoft. I did. Removed Lavasoft/Web companion and the problem is solved. Thanks for sharing guys.

I've just gotten a new computer with Windows 10.   I downloaded PS via CC 2017 and it opened and allowed me to add plugins, but when I tried to open PS again, I'm getting this error message.   I uninstalled and reinstalled several times.    Finally, I removed my plugins from the folder and tried again.   PS opened, but I'm wondering how I can get this to not happen again.   I hate to go through reinstalling everything to have it crash again.     Also, I have no Lavasoft  on my computer, so that solution doesn't apply.   I'd love input!!
