Memory usage seems to creep up around 50MB per 16 images edited. It does this every time. It is currently using 3622MB and has nothing at all open.
Previous versions of Photoshop never had this problem.
I encountered 4 times a graphic card crash (screen black out) most likely due to a PSE 2018 memory leakage. The eventlog shows a Resource-Exhaustion-Detect:
Windows successfully diagnosed a low virtual memory condition; The following programs consumed the most virtual memory: PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe (4512) consumed 60576477184 bytes, ElementsSmartTag.exe (7872) consumed 429363200 bytes, and explorer.exe (10224) consumed 390012928 bytes.
The only way out of this situation is to hit the reset button and restart Windows.
However due to other problems I have uninstalled PSE16/2018 and keep working on my PSE13 version without memory leaks......
I'm using a Nvidia GTX 750 Ti graphic card with two outputs and two screens. Everything works OK and I don't believe in my case the Nvidia control panel can be tweeked or reseted to solve this problem.
CC2017 products do not have this problem.
Our office made the mistake of upgrading to the 2018 version, and now we're dead in the water with deadlines looming. Wonderful.
I frequently send images to PS from Lightroom in layers for stacking.
The images are about 50 mb raw files, usually ten at a time. I use auto
align and auto blend, flatten the resulting tiff file, save it back to
Lightroom and close the image. Depending on the project, this happens
On a recent
attempt to do this, I received an out of memory message on the third
go-around. My system uses an I7 3400Mhz processor with 16 gb ram and a
separate Nvidia video card with 2 gb on board, Windows 10 home, 64 bit. PS is
allocated 60% of the ram.
I go to task manager - resource manager I can see what processes are
using how much memory. Opening PS uses a little under 1 gb. Loading 10
images and running my project ups the use to 4 gb. After saving the
image and closing it, the memory usage of PS does not go down (unless I
close the program). So if I load another stack and work it, the PS
memory use rises another 4 gb to around 8-9 gb total. The third
iteration is out of memory.
is a new problem which started this winter after one of the updates to
CC. This has not previously been a problem - I've done stacks up to 20
mages repeatedly without a problem. I haven't changed any of the
preferences but couldn't say if something changed during an update.
Any ideas are welcome.
I am new here :) Happy holidays to you all.... obvious question but, is the purpose of these forums just to have the community help each other out or is Adobe supposed to actually chime in at some point? This memory issue is the single most archived problem of the year by my estimation and I can't find ANY forums anywhere that, solution aside, have adobe even acknowledge its a problem. If someone has found any information about this could you share a link? If I find anything I will circle back and post it myself. Been on a mission for two weeks now, I can only bump so many posts haha :)
Simply deleted all unneeded extra brushes and gradients from Preset Manager, so now it occupies only 616 Mb on start instead of 1089 Mb before (I left some bokeh brushes in use).
Hope that helps.
