Lightroom crashes constantly. Report a bug website sends me to this community. Frustrated at subpar products being sold at $50/month. Do you really want my system dump here?

What version of Lightroom are you using?
What OS version are you using?
What does the detailed OS crash report say?

Apologies for the inaccurate terminology. I can understand that they are technically / programmatically different, despite my perspective and frustration as a user that they are similar fatal events of application instability.

No reason except that the updates, per their release notes, did not seem relevant or urgent for the applications and features that I use.

Do the above two factors explain the cause of, or undercut the severity of, Lightroom consistently being unusable? I'd be glad to prioritize installing updates to help uncover the root cause of LR locking up almost every other time I switch away and try to come back.

MacOS updates pack in a LOT of bug fixes (way more than the release notes cover) -- you really need to keep up with them.
The Lightroom team will have to check the report and see what the event observer is doing that might cause the hang.

When is lock up happens? During launch or during normal use in library or develop? Are there any concurrent activities (like Lightroom mobile sync or face indexing) running in the background (you can click to expand the your name plate on the top left to show the activity center to see any activities).

A few of things that you can try:
1) Reset your Lightroom user preferences: hold down Shift and Option key while launching Lightroom CC 2015. Click to Reset Preferences.
2) Follow https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/lightroom-gpu-faq.html to turn off GPU acceleration to see things improve.
3) Log out and re-login to your Creative Cloud account.

Get the latest Mac OSX update if you can as Chris suggested as the first order of business.

Hi Simon and Chris,

I installed the latest Mac OS X updates, but LR still hangs / freezes up on me. Here's a recent system dump that occurred when I was not in the middle of doing anything: I switched to my browser for a while to surf the web, then LR was unresponsive when I tried to go back.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/nntb00p8p5w...

I will try some of the suggestions re: resetting preferences, GPU acceleration, and logging out of Creative Cloud.
