Adobe Elements 2020 Backup

Hi. I have recently, and successfully, converted a 42k photo catalogue from PSE v6 to 2020. Very straightforward - Thanks for your answer to a previous question on the conversion Michael. I have now done a full backup of the 2020 version catalogue and the number of files backed up has increased from c44k to c132k with minimal increase in disk space used for the b/up. The media face recognition is "on".
Just wondering why the increase in files backed up?
Thanks, Mike.

How do you get the number of files? From the organizer for all the files in your library? From the Windows explorer for the number of files in the backup folder?
If so, the organizer shows only one image for stacks and version sets.
The backup folder shows all items in version sets and stacks, all xmp sidecar files for raw files, all json files for face recognition. xmp and json are very small text files and don't weigh much.

Thanks Michael.  Yes, it is from clicking on the Explorer properties of the backup folders.
