Is ACR ever going to have its interface updated to the more modern Lr's Develop Module?

Hi Steve! While I can't comment on any upcoming plans or features, I would love to better understand the request. Can you provide a little more detail on why you would want that, as opposed to just using Lightroom (since it sounds like you prefer the Lr interface)?

Hi Jeffrey,
I wouldn't think this was too hard to imagine. The controls and processes are the same in both UI's, right? They are just arranged on the screen differently. But jumping between the two is odd.  Off the top of my head here are a few reasons from my desk...
  • My workflow sometimes has me creating images from raw files starting from Ps rather than from Lr. So, I'm in the ACR.
  •  Also, if I open a raw file as a smart object in Ps even if I start in Lr I am in the ACR interface if I need to adjust that smart object.
  • Further, I teach and coach the use of Lr and Ps...so sometimes I have an image that a client gives me on a thumb drive. I don't want to add it to my Lr catalog so I double click and again I'm in ACR. But the client is sometimes a Lr user only. So, I have to add the image to the catalog, give the demonstration and remove their image later from my catalog.
  • Speaking of teaching Ps and Lr, newbies to the program are totally confused when they see the "other" interface.  This is true going in either direction.

  • I would have thought the UI of  ACR and Develop would have merged by now. I guess it is a feature request.
I know I cut some corners on my explanations, I can elaborate later if you wish.

Hi Steve! Correct, it wasn't hard to imagine at all. I just wanted to hear your exact reasons for wanting it. So, thanks for that list! Those are some great reasons and I completely get it. I'll be sure to pass this request along to the rest of the team.

Sounds good, thanks. I didn't mean sound as if I was miffed. I'm just surprised it hasn't been requested or discussed before.
