Lightroom: Adobe application manager spins when attempting a manual update

On MacOS 10.12, automatic updates to Lightroom 6 standalone do not seem to be detected. When I manually check for updates, AAM just spins forever. The window spinner spins and it says "Checking for updates..." but it's not clear it's actually doing anything. It never succeeds, never fails, and I cannot quit it. I must use Force Quit to get it to go away.

This is currently happening with 6.10.1 but has also happened with other versions.

It's also frustrating since it's very difficult to find a link on adobe's sites to download a standalone copy of the update. The blog post announcing the update doesn't have a download link.

Even finding the direct download link didn't help. Opening the download and running the updater just launched AAM, which continued to do nothing.

After a reboot, the update now seems to be working. I wonder if this is related to adobe_licutil hanging all the time.

I had the same issue. I spent 30 minutes yesterday with Adobe. The solution was to uninstall and the reinstall using Creative Cloud
