Allow 'keyword groups': I often want to assign multiple keywords at once. For example, if add the keyword 'GPS', I will also want to add 'survey', 'Global Positioning System', etc. Being able to add multiple keywords to any of the nine 'buttons' available in a keyword set would be a perfect solution. With this method (and continuing my example) such a 'multiple keyword' button would still allow me to type or click the keyword 'GPS' without adding the associated keywords.

Another way to add such a keyword group would be to enter a 'key keyword'. In this example might be to set the group name as 'GPSgroup', again, so they keyword 'GPS' could be left free to only apply that one keyword. Of course, I may simply chose to call the group 'GPS', so it would always add the associated keywords.

At present, adding many keywords is currently laborious, especially since LR responds quite slowly when applying keywords

I agree! I had hoped to create my keywords for wildlife photos in a hierarchy. So I might have wildlife->bird->raptor->hawk->red-tailed hawk.

If I tag a photo as being a red-tailed hawk, I would want it to also get the keywords hawk, raptor, bird, and wildlife.

But, when I create this keyword hierarchy, it does nothing of the sort. It just adds red-tailed hawk, still leaving me to add the others manually.

I'd love to see this added as a feature.

At the top of the keywording panel, change the pop-up to "Will Export". That'll show all of the keywords that'll be applied when you export - and that'll include the parent keywords as you hoped.
