This conversation has been merged. Please reference the main conversation: Lightroom: A setting to have it show when a photo is fully loaded

In Develop, when I scroll to a new group of images in the filmstrip, first they are all grey, then they all load with the "original" images (like you'd see if you \), then they load with my settings. It would be very helpful to have a small icon or other indication on the thumbnail to show that the image is not fully loaded. Since I can only apply syncs and presets to fully loaded images, this would enable me to check that they are all loaded before trying to change a large number of images at once. Thank you!

I'd like to see image status in library too. And by status I mean when I click for loupe or 1:1, will it need to re-render, or is lib preview fresh.

Summary of desired visual feedback:
1. embedded vs. rendered
2. stale vs. fresh.

Example solution: 3-state indicator icon:
1. Embedded
2. Rendered but stale
3. Rendered and fresh.

Bonus Idea:
---------------
a fourth state: image available in negative cache too (develop ready), and allow pref for previous image negative cache size, and look-ahead (anticipatory) cache size (once that's implemented I mean ;-}, and then a menu method to force render for develop, like we can now for library. Maybe get the ram suppliers to kick in (I'd buy 32G of ram if I knew Lr would use it so).

A bit of history for those who don't know: Lr has a negative cache which holds 4 images - that's why it's so quick to revisit the last 4 images developed. It can be enabled or disabled using a lua text configuration file, but size is fixed, and there is no pre-caching ability.

Aren't there the ”three dots” to show you that the thumbnail is not fully loaded?

Also, you can certainly apply adjustments, presets and sync while the thumbnails load.
