Lightroom: Add to Collection Shortcut

Is there a way to add photos to existing collections by way of a shortcut or context menu? In other words, I don't want to first have to set a "Target Collection" or go through the hassle of dragging a photo to a particular Collection. Ideally, what I'd like to do is go through a bunch of pictures, which may be filtered, unfiltered, or even part of another collection then hit a hot key and have a list of my collections pop up and let me assign the photo to one of the collections in the list. Perhaps to further improve upon this, have the last few recently used collections appear at the top of the list.

I often go through batches of photos and assign them to many different collections. It would be nice if it were easier to do this. Am I missing a built in function of LR or is there a plugin to do what I'm looking for?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Target collection is the only shortcut. You could consider creating a keyword for each keyword, which you could easily assign using the buttons in the Keywording panel, and then drag them over to the collections when you're done.

I thought of the option of keywording them, something like c_forwebsite, c_mybestshots, etc. which I could then drag to the appropriate matching collections, or auto assign to a smart collection. But I'm trying to eliminate additional steps, instead of creating more. :( Also, if I used a smart collection, I'd be forced to KW every photo. Additionally, a photo may need to be put into more than one collection. Which would require even more keywording.

I do appreciate the suggestion though. Hopefully, maybe one of the plugin developers on here might find this a worthy project.

That would be a great feature to have as a context menu. I use keywords similar to what avpman described. I have some smart collections that are set up to contain any image with a certain keyword. When I add the keyword it automatically appears in that collection.

For example, the keyword "500px" makes it show in the "Add to 500px" collection. After I add it to 500px, I remove the keyword and it disappears from the collection.

The ability to choose from a list of target collections would be quicker, though.

Good idea,  There should be more than one shortcut key  Like a unique shortcut key for gallery A, B, and C.....
