Please add ability to flip layers/selection. I often need this feature. It's very inconvenient that you don't have it!

Are you saying that you want this instead of invoking Transform first? As far as I know, Photoshop always treats it as a transformation. It's non-destructive because there's no need to interpolate pixels when flipping horizontally or vertically, just as rotating by 90 degrees doesn't require interpolation.

If you want to flip the contents of a selection, and not the selection itself, that's going to require copying it to its own layer, no? So you can flip layers, but not pixels on a layer that are part of other pixels on the same layer.

Maybe I'm not fully understanding just what you want???

I couldn't find how I can transform a layer making it flipped.

If you target the layer itself, just that, no selection, and press Cmd/Ctrl-T, you can right-click inside the bounding box and at the bottom of the menu you'll see "Flip Horizontal."

If you normally keep the layer Bounding box visible by enabling "Show transform control handles" on the Options bar when the Move tool is selected, be aware that that doesn't actively invoke Free Transform to get you the right menu.  It's a bit weird, but the context-sensitive menu in that case will only show you what's below that you can target. So you still have to press Cmd-T, and then you can use the c-s menu.

Thanks for the help. It's not obvious that we have to press Ctrl+T to see the correct items in the context menu. Probably, it should be improved.

LOL. You could write a list longer than you are tall in 12 pt type to cover what "should be" improved.  Programmers used to put "Easter Eggs" in our programs (in case you're too young to remember them), which was fun, and educational if you went looking for them because you'd be bound to find something hidden—but also a bit of a joke since half of Photoshop's interface qualified as an "Easter Egg."   '-} They hide stuff all over the place.

You can make a custom hot key assigned to the menu item Edit-Transform-Flip horizontal

If that's not exactly the menu item, sorry. On myphine. But that's how I flip layers and selections.
