Active Selection Indicator

It is frustrating when there is a hidden active selection and one cannot proceed unless the selection is cancelled. It would be very helpful to users if there is an indicator on the layer where the selection is active which appears on/off depending on whether a selection is active on that layer or not. I see that many separate users have requested similar ideas but because the idea is in separate items the voting is split and PS has not taken any notice. THIS IS AN IDEAL IMPROVEMENT SO PLEASE TAKE NOTICE.

While I agree that an indicator would be a good idea somewhere, the fact that a selection is not linked to any particular layer makes putting the indicator on the layer in the layers panel would not be a good place. Better to have a small "Selection Active" icon somewhere on the Options bar or status bar.

Absolutely agree that something has to be done about this. It causes total and complete halts to work and can be frustrating and difficult to track down and deal with repeatedly.

It's forced me to have to uncheck "Auto-Select Parameter" within the Adjustments and Properties panels because it will ALWAYS get stuck or stay active on entry field and then nothing works including key shortcuts, until you track down the field that still thinks it's active and press "Return".
